5 smoothie recipes for beginners

You’ve done the research. You’ve fortified yourself with the facts. You know the great health benefits – increased energy, nutrient rich, high in dietary fiber, weight loss – associated with drinking just one smoothie a day. And now you’re ready to start adding a smoothie each day into your diet.

Strawberry banana smoothie

6 large strawberries
1 large banana
1 cup milk

Add all ingredients to the blender. Put the lid on and make sure it’s securely in place. Blend on high until desired consistency is reached. You may use fresh or frozen strawberries.

Strawberry yogurt banana smoothie

1/2 cup milk
1/3 cup vanilla yogurt
1/3 cup strawberries (frozen work best)
1/2 banana
ice cubes (optional)

Add all the ingredients to a blender; make sure the lid is securely in place and blend until smooth or desired consistency is reached.

Banana and peanut butter smoothie

1 banana, sliced
2/3 cup plain or vanilla yogurt
1/2 cup peanut butter
2 Tablespoon honey
1 Tablespoon milk
ice cubes (optional)

Put all ingredients in a blender and process on high until smooth.

Easy fruit smoothie

1 cup plain or vanilla yogurt
1 banana
1 cup frozen berries (mixed or your choice)
ice cubes (optional)

Place all ingredients in a blender and process on high speed until smooth.

Easy green smoothie

1/4 cup water
1/4 cup plain yogurt
2 tablespoon honey (optional)
1 cup washed, chopped spinach
1/2 peeled orange, segmented
1 banana, sliced

Add the ingredients to the blender in the order listed. Blend on high until smooth. Taste and add more orange or honey to sweeten the smoothie if desired.
